Tony started his business career with The Metal Box Company as a Graduate Apprentice (BA Business Studies) working with Metal Box UK on a series of production control, accounting, vehicle logistics and warehousing management projects. Prior to joining the computer software company Comshare in London in 1982, Tony worked on computerising management briefing and reporting systems using early “slice and dice” techniques to store, analyse and report on the plethora of data from IBM mainframe production systems.

At Comshare, he learnt how to use and sell the then state of the art multi dimensional business intelligence technologies, making some of the largest sales for the company in logistics to Unipart and with statistical analysis for brand equity measurement to J Walter Thompson. In 1985 he moved to the business intelligence specialist division at Thorn EMI Software (EPS Consultants) becoming Regional Manager for Public Sector leading landmark sales of reporting and analysis software and services to all of England’s NHS District and Regional Health Authorities as well as the Treasury and numerous central and local government departments. Since that time, he worked as Managing Director at Unify Corporation and Vice President Europe at Borland. He subsequently founded Bowden & Associates Limited a niche business development consultancy specialising in data management analysis and presentation for a variety of industry sectors including Healthcare, Financial Services and Primary and Secondary Education.

Tony has many years of experience working as a senior manager and with top IT and Clinical management in healthcare in the UK, the Nordics, the USA and Middle east and Africa. Tony has a comprehensive understanding of the sales and delivery processes in data management.

As a successful entrepreneur and business builder for large and small organisations, Tony has a deep understanding and expertise in planning, developing and executing the business plan with a clear focus on the impact of disruptive technologies and market conditions. As a natural networker with an enquiring mind, he is confident and trusted working with many internal and external stakeholders on a project. He has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is comfortable dealing with all levels within healthcare providers across both clinical and management. He has served as a director of both public and private companies in the UK and the USA and is a very experienced healthcare and software industry executive. Tony is a Member of the Institute of Directors and Chaired an industry working group on Telehealth for Intellect.
