Kathy joins The IT Health Partnership from NHS England where she was Head of Data and Informatics, Genomics and prior to that had been Head of Information Standards and Information Governance. Kathy lived and worked in New Zealand for almost 12 years and held senior management positions within the Ministry of Health as Head of Information solutions and Standards with the IT Health Board and prior to that as Head of Elective Surgery and Treatment Injury for the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC).
Kathy has always focussed her career on areas where she feels that the overall objective is improving patient outcomes, and appreciates that data, informatics and the systems infrastructure and interoperability are fundamental to achieving that. She has served on the Management Boards of two International standards development organisations, IHTSDO and GS1. Her work with these organisations has been wide ranging and she is currently on the Health Advisory Board of GS1(UK).
Qualifying initially in Medical Physics where she specialised in Cardiology, Kathy had a successful career in both invasive and non-invasive procedures and worked her way to being Regional Head of Service before turning her hand to Health Management. She held the position of Chief Executive of a London private Clinic before she left the UK and headed to New Zealand.
Kathy brings expertise in health informatics and bio-informatics and is a Leading Practitioner with the Federation of Informatics Professionals. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for IT.
Kathy brings both Clinical and managerial skills and experience and her most recent position with NHS England has been at the cutting edge of medical care with the 100,000 genome project.
